If you are on Instagram or just web search for new blogs you have probably come across Belles in Bows. If not, stop reading this post and go check out her blog. You will fall in love with everything she does. From her soft smile to her effortless preppy style.
Isn't she lovely?
I had the pleasure of interviewing her and even over a few e-mails I could tell she's of the sweetest people ever.
1. What inspired you to blog, and what keeps you going? I started my Instagram about six months before I ever got a blog. Through Instagram I was given a soft introduction to the blogging world and thought it was something I would like to do! It was a nice distraction from my move last summer and I thought that it was only going to last a few short months. Turns out I fell in love with not only blogging, but the community in its entirety! I am motivated by my love of words and photographs as well as my truly supportive and uplifting followers!
2. What is your favorite thing about blogging if it isn't different from what keeps you going? My favorite thing about blogging is the freedom to write whatever I choose. It's such an empowering thing to write without inhibitions and press "post" without having to have it edited and checked and critiqued by other people. Because of this, I feel it is a very accurate reflection of who I am and what I believe.
3. What is one thing you have learned about yourself from
blogging. I have learned that sometimes I am so worried about posting
things people like that I lose myself. Because of this initial discovery
and fear I feel as if I have become acutely aware of myself as a person
and blogger and therefore my voice has become very genuine.
5. One fashion trend you wish would go away? FESTIVAL FASHION. Seriously, I don't understand why you would want to show so much skin...crop tops, daisy dukes, and fringe are really unappealing to me.
6. Something you have learned from moving around? (I am moving this summer for the first time in 16 years and it's crazy. Don't know how you do it) You need to learn to love yourself because sometimes that's all you have. I had a lot of self-esteem issues before and I just learned that I needed to embrace myself because you are beautifully and wonderfully made. If you don't love yourself it can be really hard to make friends. Kind of piggybacking on that is the importance of staying true to yourself. When you move around so much it can be tempting to try and assimilate to make friends, etc. But I cannot stress the importance of being you no matter what.
7. What is some advice you can give people starting a blog? Keep at it. I think that blogging can feel very lonely at the start. It took me a year to develop the follower base I have now...In order for people to want to follow along with you, you need to be posting consistently strong content. I really discourage fluffy filler posts. Just keep on doing your thing and people will notice and want to join in!xx, Bess
Thank you again Bess!
