Ahhhhh, Valentine's Day. I have such a love-hate relationship with Valentine's Day and basically just the whole two weeks leading up to it. Last year I had some guy get me flowers, and some earrings, the whole nine yards basically, and it was GREAT!!! I want to sit here and tell you that it is a horrible holiday this year and since I'm single, however that isn't fair. Yes, I'm upset every year when it rolls around because I don't get a dozen roses, and a fancy dinner. Yes, I do think it as a "stupid" day, but I know that one year I will have someone, and then it won't seem so stupid anymore. Quite frankly I enjoy not having someone right now, and being single is fine with me.
Valentine's Day is just another day.
Valentine's Day is just another day.
I think the thing I LOVE about Valentine's Day is that everyone around me is happy. I have two best friends, and they both get flowers and special treatment on Valentine's day from their boyfriends. I see how happy they are, and I enjoy seeing that. Next my parents have spent almost 36 Valentine's Days together and every year my dad still spoils my mom each year. And my sister even is happy now when February 14th rolls around. It's a GREAT day when the people around you enjoy it.
Now, I may just sound optimistic (which is rare for me) but it makes sense. Why should I be upset I don't have someone when everyone else around me is happy? Plus I'm not always alone, my mom ALWAYS gives me a card, and that is enough for me. It's just one day.
I try to see everyone point of view to the best of my ability, and when Valentine's day comes I'm happy for everyone else because I know how happy they are. Valentine's day is an amazing day if you let it be.
